Blancpain GT Series: Second consecutive win for #58 McLaren 650S
Rob Bell and Alvaro Parente took the second consecutive victory for the #58 McLaren 650S GT3 of the Garage 59 at Nürburgring. After last week’s victory of the crew Bell/Ledogar/Van Gisbergen in the 1000 km of Paul Ricard, Bell was again in the cockpit and claimed the victory in the Blancpain Sprint Cup race. It was the first win for McLaren in the Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.
Bell and Parente won ahead of Rene Rast and Will Stevens in the #28 Audi R8 LMS of the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT. The podium was completed by Jules Szymkowiak and Bernd Schneider in the #86 HTP Motorsport’s Mercedes-AMG GT3.
For the third consecutive time, Pro-Am victory in the Sprint Cup went to Michal Broniszewski and Giacomo Piccini in the #11 Kessel Racing Ferrari 458 GT3, while the #55 AF Corse Ferrari 458 GT3 of Claudio Sdanewitsch and Stephane Lemeret also claimed its third win in the AM class. Luca Stolz and Michele Beretta won in the Silver Cup, at the wheel of the #19 Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan.
Rob Bell is the overall leader of the Blancpain GT Series driver standings, after two endurance wins (at Monza and Le Castellet) and one sprint victory at Nürburgring. The next round of the Blancpain GT Series is the Total 24 Hours of Spa on July 30.
