Derek Johnston and Jonny Adam are the 2016 British GT champions! The duo in the TF Sport’s #17 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 finished second in the season’s finale at Donington Park, securing enough points for championship title. For Jonny Adam, it was second consecutive title, after last year’s triumph alongside Andrew Howard. Barwell Motorsport’s Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen, who were the championship leaders before Donington Decider, lost the battle for the title when Minshaw went off the road in the #33 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 on Lap 23.
The winners of the last race of the season are Rob Bell and Alasdair McCaig in the #79 Ecurie Ecosse McLaren 650S GT3. Bell crossed the finish line 12 seconds ahead of Adam. Rick Parfitt Jr and Seb Morris completed the podium in the #31 Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT3.
In the GT4 class, Mike Robinson and Graham Johnson takes the championship title in the #50 Ginetta G55 GT4 of the Optimum Motorsport, by finishing third in Sunday’s race. Ciaran Haggerty and Sandy Mitchell secured the double victory for Ecurie Ecosse, taking the GT4 class win in the #59 McLaren 570S GT4, ahead of Jack Mitchell and Matthew Graham in the #42 Aston Martin Vantage GT4.
