DTM: Edoardo Mortara wins second race at Nurburgring to stay in the title fight
Audi driver Edoardo Mortara scores his third win of the season in the second race of the DTM weekend at Nurburgring. The 29-year-old Italian driver stole the win from pole-sitter Lucas Auer, who led for most of the race but had to gave up on Lap 36. Mortara was simply too fast for 22-year-old Mercedes driver, who took his second podium of the season, after he won the race at Lausitzring.
The man on the final podium spot was BMW’s Marco Wittmann, the winner of yesterday’s race and championship leader. In the closing laps, Wittmann resisted from the attack of Mattias Ekstrom. Nico Muller, Bruno Spengler, Gary Paffett, Tom Blomqvist, Dani Juncadella and Miguel Molina completed the Top 10.
Two more DTM rounds are in the 2016 calendar: Hungaroring (September 24-25) and Hockenheimring (October 15-16). Marco Witmann is the leader with 170 points, ahead of Edoardo Mortara with 137 points.
