Sebastien Buemi scored his second win of the 2016-2017 FIA Formula E season after being impressive in the Marrakech ePrix.

Felix Rosenqvist started from pole position for the first time in his Formula E career. Mahindra Racing’s rookie was brilliant in the super pole qualifying round and secured the first place on the starting grid. The reigning champion Sebastien Buemi was the second fastest but he received five places penalty for running with an underweight fire extinguisher in qualifying. Sam Bird moved up to the second place, while Nelson Piquet Jr and Jean-Eric Vergne started from the row two.

Rosenqvist had a stunning start and kept his lead in front of Bird. Back on the grid, Buemi did a great job and after 11 laps he already was at the 4th position, behind Vergne. Lucas di Grassi was stuck in the middle of the grid but managed to move to the 9th after starting from the 12th place.

After the pit-stop, Rosenqvist still had a solid four seconds lead but now Vergne was his first behind the Mahindra Racing’s driver. Buemi moved up to the 3rd while Bird dropped to the 4th place, followed by Nicolas Prost, Daniel Abt, and Di Grassi, but they were well behind. Soon after Vergne picked up a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pits and he was out of the battle for the podium place.
