Roy Nissany scores his third win of the season in the first race of the Formula V8 3.5 at Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The Israeli driver in the #4 Lotus car was the fastest qualifyier and he converted his pole position into victory, crossing the finish line with 12.422sec gap ahead of Louis Deletraz (Fortec Motorsport). Matthieu Vaxiviere (SMP Racing) completed the podium.

The most of the action we saw in the opening laps. Whilst Nissany defended his lead, Pietro Fittipaldi and Rene Binder, who started second and third, lost few places after the start. Vaxiviere jumped from seventh to third, followed by Deletraz. They swapped positions on Lap 5 and remained in that order until the checkered flag. Rene Binder fought back through the field and overtook Olivier Panis for P4 on Lap 19, but Panis was back in the next lap.

The championship leader Tom Dillmann (AV Formula) earned no points for the first time this season. He started ninth and remained there until lap 7, when he pitted because of some problems with a car. He returned in the race and finished 12th.

Dillmann remained in the lead of the Formula V8 3.5 overall classification after 13 races, with 189 points on his account. The seconnd-placed Louis Deletraz, the best rookie, has 167 points. One more race at Monza is scheduled for tomorrow.
