Egor Orudzhev wins Formula V8 3.5 race at Paul Ricard
Egor Orudzhev (Arden Motorsport) is the winner of the first race of Formula V8 3.5 at Circuit Paul Ricard. It was the second season’s win for the Russian driver after his win in the last round at Spa-Francorchamps. Two Lotus drivers Roy Nissany and Rene Binder completed the podium at French circuit, ahead of championship leader Tom Dillman (AVF).
After dominating in practice sessions at Paul Ricard, Orudzhev was the third fastest qualifier, behind Matthieu Vaxiviere (SMP Racing) and Roy Nissany. At the start of the race, Orudzhev jumped from third to the lead. On lap 2, he went too wide in one turn Vaxiviere retook the lead. On lap 12, Orudzhev was again in the lead while Vaxiviere lost the pace and dropped to fifth place in the following few laps.
Orudzhev had no easy job to defend the lead because Roy Nissany was always on his tail, trying to attack few times, but positions remained unchanged.
