The SMP racing driver Matthieu Vaxiviere won the Formula V8 3.5 race 1 at Red Bull Ring what is his second win of the season.

Rookie Louis Deletraz for the first time in his Formula V8 career started from pole position, Matthieu Vaxiviere started from P2, while the championship leader Tom Dillmann started from the second row, alongside Egor Orudzhev.

Vaxiviere took the lead right after the start, Orudzhev jumped to the 2nd while Deletraz dropped to the 3rd but quickly fought back and managed to overtake the Russian driver who now was under the threat of Dillmann’s attacks.

Orudzhev was forced to pit on lap 8 after the technical failure of his car so Dillmann moved up to the third, while Alfonso Celis Jr, Rene Binder and Aurelien Panis all were battling for P4. Those standings remained unchanged until the lap 23 when Binder retired after contact with Celis. The safety car was deployed for a while but after the restart nothing has changed at the top of the grid.

Vaxiviere resisted attacks of Deletraz and won the race while Dillmann completed the podium, leaving Celis on the 4th and Panis on the 5th place.
