Jake Hughes wins the last race of 2016 GP3 Series season
The DAMS’ driver Jake Hughes won the last race of the 2016 GP3 Series season at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
The final race of the season wasn’t of big importance after Charles Leclerc won the title on Saturday, while ART Grand Prix much earlier secured the Teams’ championship title. That’s why the drivers could be calm and relaxed to show all that they have before the winter break.
However, the race has started under the safety car when Alexander Albon and Tatiana Calderon crashed out after having a wheel to wheel contact. Jake Hughes had the lead, while Jack Aitken and Nirei Fukuzumi were 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The same standings remained until the end of the relatively quiet race. Jake Dennis, Alex Palou, Konstantin Tereshchenko, Steijn Schothorst and Kevin Jorg also picked points in the final race of the season.
