GP3 Series: Albon wins the sprint race in Hungary

  • Alexander Albon

ART Grand Prix’s driver Alexander Albon scored his third win in 2016 GP3 Series after being fastest in the sprint race at Hungaroring.

Jenzer Motorsport’s Arjun Maini had a reverse pole for the sprint race at Hungaroring but quickly lost the lead.  Alexander Albon moved to the top of the grid before the safety car was deployed because of the big crash at the end of the field.

The Thai racer managed to resist all attacks through the race and scored his third win this year. Maini finished second, 3.3s behind the winner while Charles Leclerc finished third with a gap of 4.2s but he earned additional two points thanks to the fastest lap.

After four rounds, Albon is the new series leader with 107 points while Leclerc is second with 104 points.
