TCR - Singapore: Grachev wins behind Safety Car

Mikhail Grachev scores his fourth win of the season in the second race of the TCR International Series at Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore. The Russian driver of the #8 WestCoast Racing Honda Civic started from the pole in the recersed grid and he led from start to finish in the action packed race, which was interrupted by two Safety Car periods. After ten laps, the field of race car crossed the finish line behind the SC.

Dusan Borkovic (B3 Racing) started second and finished second, scoring his sixth podium in 2016 TCR season. James Nash (Team Craft-Bamboo Lukoil) finished third, ahead of Stefano Comini (Leopard Racing), who was in the championship lead before the race. After the race, Nash jumped into the lead, with two points more than Comini.

The third title rival, Pepe Oriola, earned no points after he dropped down the field serving a drive-through penalty because of avoidable contact with Gianni Morbidelli on Lap 4. It was one of two accidents on Lap 4. The other was crash between third-placed Sergey Afanasyev and fourth-placed Atilla Tassi. Afanasyev hit the wall and caused the first Safety Car intervention. Tassi continued to drive but retired later due to damaged suspension. The Safety Car was out for the second time shortly after the restart, when Galiana and Wei stopped on track.

Behind Grachev, Borkovic, Nash and Comini, the other points scorers are Mato Homola, Jean-Karl Vernay, Gianni Morbidelli, Davit Kajaia, Petr Fulin and Kevin Gleason.
