Tim Slade doubles up his maiden V8 Supercars triumph at Winton Supersprint. After he won Saturday’s 120-km race and scored his first ever victory in the V8SC career, Slade has won Sunday’s 200-km race to become the second double winner in the season’s eleven races.

The race was a game of strategies and Brad Jones Racing team was the better player than the team behind defending champion Mark Winterbottom. After the final pit stop, Slade’s Holden exited the pit lane ahead of  Winterbottom’s Ford. In the closing laps, Slade increased the gap and crossed the finish line 6.68 seconds before Winterbottom.

The reigning champion is satisfied with the second place as he takes the lead in the championship standings ahead of Scott McLaughlin and Jamie Whincup, who finished only 11th and 9th in the second Winton’s race. DJR Team Penske’s Fabian Coulthard finished third, ahead of  Shane van Gisbergen and Cameron Waters.

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship will resume on June 17-19 for the Darwin Triple Crown at the Hidden Valley Raceway.
