Global Rallycross Championship: 1-2 for Volkswagen in Memphis

Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross team started a new season of the US-based Global Rallycross Championship like they finished the previous season – as the winners. Andretti’s 560-hp Volkswagen Beetle GRCs were dominant at Memphis International Raceway’s 1.9-kilometre circuit which hosted the championship for the first time, with two-time GRC champion Scott Speed winning the event ahead of his teammate Tanner Foust.

Scott Speed also reached a special milestone, claiming the twelfth GRC win of his career to set a new record. This was also the 19th victory for Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross.

Loenbro Motorsports’ Steve Arpin, who was driving the #00 Ford Fiesta, finished in the third place. He grabs the podium ahead of Mitchell deJong and Oliver Eriksson in Honda Civics of Red Bull Olsbergs MSE’s team.

The next race weekend in the Global Rallycross Championship will take place on May 20-21 in Louisville.
