The final yellow flag period was caused by Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, who stopped on the track while running in the second place with five laps to go. His misfortune promoted Sebastien Bourdais (Dale Coyne Racing) to the second place. Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden finished third.

Scott Dixon (Chip Ganassi Racing) finished in the fourth place, ahead of Simon Pagenaud (Team Penske), who made a fantastic progress from P21 on the starting grid.

With Long Beach victory, Hinchcliffe climbed from ninth to second in the championship points after two events. Bourdais leads Hinchcliffe by 19 points. The next race is Honda Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park on April 23.
