VLN finale: One more win for Manthey Racing, title for Michael Schrey
Manthey Racing’s #911 Porsche 911 GT3 R is the winning car of the 42. DMV Münsterlandpokal at Nürburgring Nordschleife, the season’s finale of the VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring. The drivers in the #911 Porsche were Frederic Makowiecki and Lars Kern.
It’s the fifth win of the season for the #911 Porsche and third victory for Makowiecki. With five wins in 2017, Manthey Racing reaches a number of 50 overall victories in a history of VLN series.
Hubert Haupt, Erik Johansson and Maro Engel finished second in the #7 Black Falcon Mercedes-AMG GT3, ahead of Frank Stippler, Robin Frijns and Christian Mamerow, who started from pole in the #15 Phoenix Racing Audi R8 LMS.
Michael Schrey finished 26th overall and first in the TCR class, driving the #802 Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR together with Andreas Gulden and Benjamin Leuchter. That victory gives Schrey the championship title for the 2017 VLN season.
