Formula 3 Europe: Three different winners of the Pau Grand Prix
The 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship season started with the Pau Grand Prix. Three different drivers won the races during the weekend at the famous street circuit in soutwestern France.
In the first race, Prema drivers Zhou and Aron captured two podium spots ahead of pole-sitter Dan Ticktum (Motopark) who finished in the third place. Zhou is the first ever Chinese driver to win in F3 European race.
On Sunday morning, Sacha Fenestraz dominated in the race from lights to flag, winning in front of Alex Palou (Hitech) and Marcus Armstrong (Prema Theodore Racing). Motopark’s Fabio Scherer was in a fight for P2 but he crashed out on Lap 12.
On Sunday afternoon, the racing meeting in Pau ended with a victory of Ralf Aron. He defeated pole-sitter Enaam Ahmed (Hitech) and Jehan Daruvala (Carlin). The race was red-flagged after 11 laps because of accidents on the wet track so only half of the points were awarded.
After three races in France, Fenestraz leads in the championship standings with 37 points, two and a half more than Ralf Aron. Enaam Ahmed is third with 27 points. The next F3 European meeting is scheduled for June 2-3 at Hungaroring.
