Kyle Busch wins the Gander Outdoors 400 race at Pocono Raceway, scoring his sixth win of the season and the 49th NASCAR Cup Series victory in a career to tie Tony Stewart for 13th on the all-time winners’ list.

The driver of the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota held off his teammate Daniel Suarez and beat him by 1.788 seconds on the finish line. Suarez started from pole position and the second place is his career-best finish in the Cup Series.

The victory in the Cup Series race rounded a perfect weekend for Kyle Busch as he won the Truck Series’ Gander Outdoors 150 race a day earlier. It’s interesting that Busch scored his last Xfinity Series victory also at Pocono in June, proving that he’s the master of Pocono’s Tricky Triangle.

Busch is now tied in the Cup Series standings with Kevin Harvick, who finished fourth on Sunday, behind Alex Bowman who also scored his career-best Cup Series result. Erik Jones, William Byron, Chase Elliott, Ryan Newman, Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin completed the top 10 at Pocono.

Harvick and Busch posted the two fastest laps in Saturday’s qualifying session, but their times were disallowed because of subsequent inspection failures, along with those of eleven other drivers. Busch started 28th and Harvick 29th.

The next Cup Series race is scheduled for August 5 at Watkins Glen International.
