This weekend we will find out who will be crowned as a new ADAC GT Masters champion. Three crews are battling for the glory with Team Zakspeed pair Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig as a main favorites.

German drivers of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 are on top of the standings with 187 points, 31 more than BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert Motorsport drivers – Jens Klingmann from Germany and Dominik Baumann from Austria. Third in classification is another Austrian, Klaus Bachler in GW IT Racing Team Schutz Motorsport’s Porsche 911 GT3 R. He has 150 points and he will need a lot of luck to win the championship.

But, at Hockenheim Dominik Baumann will be partnered with former DTM champion and well-known BMW driver Bruno Spengler, because Klingmann has other commitements, while Baumann’s partner will be, as always, Martin Ragginger. They won five pole positions in the last 10, but failed to fully take advantage of that.

Before final two rounds Asch has further motivation as he could become first driver in the series to win Drivers’ championship for the second time as he was crowned back in 2012.

In the Teams’ championship, situation is even closer than in the Drivers’ championship. Team Zakspeed leads with 203 points, just 12 ahead of BMW Sports Trophy Team Schubert Motorsport, while GW IT Racing Team Schutz Motorsport lies on third with 165 points, 15 more than kfzteile24 MS Racing on fourth place.

So, we only can hope for good weather conditions and races without accidents on Saturday and Sunday to learn who will deserve championship laurels.
