Sergio Marchionne, president of Ferrari, talked about possibility of Alfa Romeo’s return in Formula 1 championship.

Still in the hearts of his fans

Marchionne, who is also CEO of Alfa Romeo, said there is a chance for famous brand of Fiat factory to compete again in prestigious competition after last race in 1985.

“Alfa Romeo is still in the hearts of Formula 1 lovers and that is incredible! That’s why we are thinking of returning to Formula 1 and to be competitive. For Alfa Romeo that return is very important,” said Marchionne.

Alfa Romeo has great F1 history

Alfa Romeo was a member of Formula 1 from 1950 to 1985, while until 1988 they were present as engine supplier. As a team, Alfa Romeo achieved 11 wins in 110 races, and their legendary drivers Nino Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio won Drivers’ championship titles in 1950 and 1951.
