Andretti confirms Frijns for the new Formula E season

The Andretti Formula E team confirmed Robin Frijns as a teammate to Simona de Silvestro for the 2015/2016 Formula E season.

Frijns was a champion and race winner in many single-seater championships, like GP2 Series, Formula 2.0 Renault Eurocup, World Series by Renault 3.5, but also in the Blancpain Sprint Series in which he won five of eight races as a driver of Belgian Audi Club Team WRT.

He already had a pre-season testing with Andretti team during last day at Donington Park, after Andretti team decided to run old car for the next season which starts in Beijing on October 24th.

“It is an honour to be part of the Andretti family and to drive for them in Formula E. It’s a new championship and a completely new challenge for me. The way of driving and saving energy is going to be tough but fun and I am really looking forward to the first race in Beijing in a few weeks,” commented 24-year old Dutchman.

Team owner Michael Andretti is also happy with new signing: “We are very excited to have Robin in the team. He is only done one test for us, but he did a really good job and he has a great attitude. We feel that with him and Simona de Silvestro, we have a strong team put together and are ready for season two.”
