Babalus and Duyver winners of the race 1 at Paul Ricard

Matteo Santoponte “Babalus” and Jacques Duyver are the winners of Race 1 of the Ferrari Challenge Europe at the Paul Ricard Circuit.

The Italian driver of Scuderia Autoropa won the Trofeo Pirelli race after leading from start to finish. He was 4.188 faster than German Bjorn Grossmann (Octane 126) who finished second, while third was Florian Merckx from Belgium. The driver of the Baron Service team was almost 35 seconds slower than Babalus.

In the Coppa Shell race the winner is Jacques Duyver. The Belgian driver of Swiss team Kessel Racing started from third place, but first passed through the finish line leaving Italian Erich Prinot (Ineco – MP Racing), who had pole position, 3.794 seconds behind, while the third was another Kessel Racing’s driver, Indian tycoon Gautam Singhania.

Drivers, teams, customers and all of Ferrari staff present at the Paul Ricard circuit on Saturday for the Ferrari Racing Days, honoured the memory of Jules Bianchi with a minute’s silence.

Race 2 at Paul Ricard is scheduled for Sunday.
