Blancpain Sprint Series Moscow - practice

  • Blancpain Sprint Series Moscow - practice, Audi R8 LMS Ultra 2015

The fifth round of this year’s Blancpain Sprint Series is going to be held in Russia on the Moscow Raceway. It is a new and modern track which opened in 2012 and is capable of hosting every FIA approved event. The circuit itself is 3,9 kilometers long (medium length track). With its combination of few straights and lots of fast corners, the Moscow Raceway is undoubtedly an interesting and dynamic track to race on.

The Blancpain Sprint event started on Friday with two free practice sessions, 1.2-hours-long each. There was enough time for drivers to get to know this track and to test their cars. The first practice session was very interesting with #333 Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 set the fastest time, clocking a 1’38.020 min. The second place was reserved for Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 R-EX which just shows that “old” car is still capable of achieving good times despite fact that there is new Huracan GT3.

On the second practice session, the best time was achieved by series leader Laurens Vanthoor in Audi R8 LMS Ultra. His time was better than the Ferrari’s with 1:37.501 min. The second was another Audi (Enzo Ide, Christopher Mies) with very close time of 1:37.580 min. Unfortunately, after achieving best time of the day, Laurens Vanthoor spun and crashed hitting the barriers 10 minutes before end of the session.
