Blancpain Sprint Series Moscow – qualifying race and main race

It was a busy day at the Moscow Raceway circuit where the fifth round of the 2015 Blancpain Sprint Series was held. First, we had three short qualifying sessions this morning which were dominated by Lamborghini Gallard from Reiter Engineering. The team scored pole position for qualifying in a short race which will determine the position of the start of the main race this afternoon.

The No88 Lamborghini driven by Nick Catsburg and Albert von Thurn und Taxis started first and held onto the lead all trough the qualifying race, winning it easily. In second spot was a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 from Rinaldi Racing.

The Bentley Continental GT3 and BMW Z4 GT3 finished third and fourth which means that they will start from the second row in the main race. The series leader Lauren Vanthoor suffered a rear puncture on the opening lap which ruined his chances of podium finish and he will start on back of the grid at number 16th. Vincent Abril in a Continental GT3 managed to lead the race with over 7 seconds so when the time for driver change came, his teammate Maxi Buhk had no problem keeping the lead and finishing first. It is the Bentley Team HTP first win. An nteresting battle was fought for the second and third place (BMW and Ferrari) but BMW managed to finish ahead. For full results, click HERE:
