British GT: Keen and Nash fastest in FP1 at Spa

Phil Keen of Barwell Motorsport and James Nash of Stratton Motorsport UltraTek  were the fastest in the first free practice of the British GT round at Spa-Francorchamp.

Keen set the lap time 2:20.564 and was the fastest in the GT3 class in his BMW Z4 GT3, which he shares with Jon Minshaw. The duo was 0.288 seconds faster than the Oman Racing Team’s pair Liam Griffin and Rory Butcher and a further half second faster than Beechdean AMR’s Andres Howard and Jonathan Adam. The championship leaders and reigning champions Marco Attard and Alexander Sims were fourth, 1.1 seconds behind Barwell Motorsport’s car.

UltraTek

In the GT4 class, Nash managed to set best result in the late stage of the session. The former WTCC champion in Lotus Evora set the lap time 2:33.730 leaving ISSY Racing’s pair Oz Yusuf and Gavan Kershaw second with 2:34.189.

The third best result was achieved by Century Motorsport pair Aleksander Schjerpen and James Birch in Ginetta G55 GT4 – 2:34.757. The overall standings leaders, Jamie Chadwick and Ross Gunn, were eighth in their Aston Martin.
