Unlike Formula One, and just like in GP2 series, GP3 series teams all use the same car built by Dallara. Since its inception in 2010, the teams had been using the Dallara GP3/10, which has been changed to current specifications for 2013 season. The current GP3 series car is named GP3/13, and it will be used in season 2015 as well.

The carbon monocoque is built by Dallara to meet FIA standards, and front and rear wings are made out of carbon composite material. Limited use of the most expensive carbon fibres has resulted in a compromise between cost effectiveness and performance.  Unlike the Dallara GP3/10 which was powered by Renault’s turbocharged 2-liter 4 cylinder engine, GP3/13 has 3.4l naturally aspirated six cylinder engine built by AER with 400 HP, 120 HP more than the previous car had. The gear shifter is six gear longitudinal and is designed by Hewland, while the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel are electro-hydraulic and made by Magneti Marelli. The tires used are Pirelli slicks designed for GP3. The weight of the car remained unchanged from GP3/10 and is 630 kg.

Maximum top speed of GP3/13 car is 285 km/h, with a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.7 seconds. The car will not recieve any major changes for season 2015, like it was the case in GP2 where all the cars will be equipped with DRS, which will be used by F1 regulations. The next evolution of GP3 cars has not yet been announced.
