Chip Ganassi Racing confirmed drivers for 2016 WEC
Chip Ganassi Racing confirmed drivers line-up for all-new Ford GT which will be competing in 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship.
Four drivers that will take part in full-season FIA World Endurance Championship effort are Andy Priaulx, Stefan Mucke, Olivier Pla and Marino Franchitti. Driver pairings for the WEC effort have yet to be announced.
Both cars will have automatic entries to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while Ford is looking for the possibility to enter two additional cars for the endurance classic in the year which marks the 50th anniversary of its first overall win in 1966.
Making a championship winning team
“Make no mistake, we are racing to win. To compete at this level you need the best car, the best team and the best drivers, and we have selected Stefan, Olivier, Andy and Marino to drive the Ford GT to take on the best in the world,” said Ford Performance global director Dave Pericak during a promotion held in Greathworth Park.
Team owner Chip Ganassi is very optimistic before the start of the new season: “We have chosen drivers with heart, speed and proven endurance racing credentials. I can’t wait for the racing to begin.”
