Shanghai will host World Touring Car Championship rounds 19 and 20 this weekend and that could be the perfect place for Citroen to secure its second manufacturer’s championship title in a row.

French manufacturer has huge advantage in manufacturers standings and if they win 58 points in next two rounds, another trophy will be secured four rounds before the end of the season.

That shouldn’t be a too difficult task for Citroen as their weekend’s average score is 87 points. With drivers’ championship leader and reigning champion Jose Maria Lopez, aces like Yvan Muller and Sebastien Loeb and local favorite Ma Qing Hua, it looks like Citroen can already put champagne on ice.

Another very important detail is that China is Citroen’s biggest market, even bigger than France, with C-Elysee, model which is used as the base car in WTCC, as their best seller.

“Winning our second consecutive world title in Shanghai would be the ideal scenario. But we never take anything for granted and we won’t relax until the finish. We want to show a bit of panache like we did last year, when we claimed the top four places in an FIA WTCC race for the first time,” said Yves Matton, Citroen Racing Team Principal.
