Dakar 2016: Nasser Al Attiyah fastest on stage 11
The stage 11 of Dakar 2016 witnessed some great racing from all drivers and teams. During the long (over 700 km) stage there were a lot of leader changes and some very fierce racing between Peugeot and Mini drivers. Extreme heat and other difficulties pushed the machines and the men driving them to their limits, but there were no big accidents or problems for the top drivers.
Battle between Peugeots
During the first part of stage 11, the main battle was fought between Sébastien Loeb and Stéphane Peterhansel and the Peugeot drivers were only seconds apart. But in CP2, neither Peterhansel nor Loeb had the best time, the fastest one was Mini driver and Dakar veteran Nasser Al Attiyah.
By the end of the stage 11 it looked like Al Attiyah was going to win again in front of Peugeots of Loeb and Peterhansel. His continuous good driving and knowledge of the desert helped him win in front of Loeb in second and Hirvonen in third place. This is his second stage win in this year’s Dakar rally.
