DTM expanded to 10 events, Misano and Brands Hatch added for 2018
The organizers of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) announced ten events in the 2018 calendar, one more than in the previous season. Eight race tracks will be the same as in 2017, the new venues are Brands Hatch and Misano.
Russia is out of calendar after five consecutive years DTM had been visited Moscow Raceway. Brands Hatch will host DTM again for the first time since 2013 while Misano will have its DTM meeting for the first time in a history of a series.
The popular touring car series will kick off in May at Hockenheimring, where also the season’s finale will took place in October. Between two Hockenheim’s event, there will be race meetings at Lausitzring, Hungaroring, Norisring, Zandvoort, Brands Hatch, Misano, Nurburgring and Red Bull Ring.
“Five events in Germany, five abroad – DTM is becoming somewhat more international without neglecting its German roots. With England and Italy two important markets of the premium-car manufacturers Audi, BMW and Mercedes make their comeback on the DTM calendar. Furthermore, I’m delighted that DTM keeps on racing at the Lausitzring – even after the circuit was sold. With the new owner DEKRA, our long-term partners, we could make sure that the Eastern-German DTM enthusiasts also will be provided spectacular touring-car racing,” says Gerhard Berger, CEO of DTM’s umbrella organization ITR.
