Giovinazzi started in the fourth spot and jumped to third on the start, ahead of another Prema driver: Lance StrollGeorge Russel (Carlin) jumped from seventh to fifth at the start. Their positions remained unchanged till the end of the race.

Charles Leclerc (Van Amersfoort Racing) felt down from fifth to seventh spot at the start, behind Alexander Albon (Signature). The Monegasque driver got back ahead of Albon in lap 13 and got some valuable points in the chase for championship title. Behind Leclerc and Albon there was also a battle for eight position where Gustavo Menezes (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) proved to be faster than Sergio Sette Camara (Motorpark) and Mikkel Jensen (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport).
