F3 European Championship: Victorious closure for Felix Rosenqvist
Felix Rosenqvist (Prema Powerteam) scored his 11th win of the season in the last race of FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Newly crowned F3 European champion gets best possible closure of the victorious season in the action packed race with four Safety car interventions. Race was also finished behind Safety car, with Alexander Albon (Signature) and Antonio Giovinazzi (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) filled the podium.
Race start was delayed because of heavy fog, which also caused the cancellation of previous race of Audi Sport TT Cup. Felix Rosenqvist had a best start on wet track and jumped from third to the lead. Albon followed him with the move from fifth to second, while Alexander Sims made a progress from ninth to third in the opening lap. Jake Dennis and Antonio Giovinazzi, who started from the front row, felt to fourh and fifth respectively.
Safety car was deployed first time in Lap 5, after Pietro Fittipaldi spun and stopped on the track. Lots of drivers pitted to change the tyres and that shuffled the positions in Top 10, but the leaders remained the same. Giovinazzi overtook Sims for third in Lap 12. After fourth and last Safety car period race wasn’t restart and Rosenqvist crossed the finish line slow pacing behind SC.
Albon, Giovinazzi and Sims defended their positions, while lots of changes in Top 10 finally resulted with Callum Ilott (Carlin) on fifth, in front of Maximilian Günther (Prema Powerteam), Jake Dennis (Prema Powerteam), Mikkel Jensen (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport), Michele Beretta (kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport) and Raoul Hyman (Team West-Tec F3).
