Start of the Formula 1 season  2016 is moved back two weeks and will start in March with a race in Melbourne.

;

Australian Grand Prix was originally scheduled for 3rd of April 2016, but it will go on March 20th, organizers announced on Wednesday.

;

“The change of the date is part of a number of changes on a provisional calendar issued by the World Motor Sport Council. The race will remain the first race of the Formula 1 season,” they said in a statement.

;

This change could affect teams in terms of preparations of new cars as they now have less time, but change was expected after Formula 1 personnel complained that a shorter summer break would see them overworked, particularly with the addition of race in Azerbaijan, which brings the calendar to a record breaking 21 races.

;

Final version of Formula 1 calendar for next season will be published until the end of the week.
