Formula Renault 2.0 Alps: Two wins for Koiranen GP at Misano
The Koiranen GP claimed victories in the both the races of the sixth and penultimate round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps, which took place during the previous weekend at Misano, Italy. The winner of the first race was Jack Aitken, while in the second race the winner was his team-mate Jake Hughes. After the Misano races only twelve points seperate championship leader Hughes from the second placed Aitken. The decisive last round of the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps is scheduled for October 10/11 in Jerez.
Second placed in both races was Russian Matevos Isaakyan (JD Motorsport), who confirmed his third place in the championship standings.
Another hero of the weekend was Indian racer Jehan Daruvala (Fortec Motorsports), who managed to seize both pole positions.In the first race he finished third and in the second race he finished fourth, behind Brazilian Thiago Vivacqua (JD Motorsport).
The third of Koiranen’s driver, Austrian Stefan Riener, proved once more to be a consistent driver and finished sixth and fifth. With these new points, he is fourth in the championship standings. Russian Vasily Romanov (Cram Motorsport) impressed in Race 1 scoring a fourth place, ahead of Hughes, but spun in the second qualifying and started Race 2 from the back of the grid.
Before the final round of FR2.0 Alps some of the drivers will compete in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup races, as a part of the World Series by Renault. There will be three WSR events in September at Silverstone, Nurburgring and Le Mans.
