Global Rallycross Championship: Ken Block's third win in the season

Hoonigan Racing Division’s Ken Block earned his season’s third and his a record-setting sixth Global Rallycross Championship victory in Detroit on Saturday.  Scott Speed (Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross) and Sebastian Eriksson (Red Bull Olsbergs MSE) completed the podium, while Brian Deegan (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Joni Wiman (Olsbergs) completed the top five.

“It was quite an eventful race! I was happy with second place and taking home some good points, but I ended up winning! I’m a record holding GRC driver now with six wins, so that’s pretty cool. I’m really stoked—that’s just a testament to how hard my team and I work,” Block said after the race. He confirmed his championship lead ahead Eriksson.

Twelve Supercar drivers took part in the Detroit race. Behind the top 5 finalists there were also Austin Dyne, Steve Arpin, Nelson Piquet Jr, Patrik Sandell and Tanner Foust in the final run.

Subaru Rally Team USA  drivers Bucky Lasek and Sverre Isachsen missed the Supercar final. In GRC Lites, the points leader Tanner Whitten took the first victory of his career for DirtFish Motorsports.
