  • 2015 GP3 Spa, race

A series of penalties in the first race tumbled the starting grid. Esteban Ocon jumped the virtual safety car restart and lost his win, dropping to second, behind Bernstorff. Jimmy Eriksson jumped the start and went to do his penalty under safety, which was also illegal, so he dropped from fifth to thirteenth. After a serious crash at Eau Rouge, Jann Mardenborough managed to return to rhe race. With all the penalties in account, Aleksander Bosak had the upper hand and started the race from pole. However, Bosak had a bad start and Alex Palou was in the lead. On the other hand, Ocon had a great start and quickly jumped to second. By lap 2, feature race winner Emil Bernstorff retired from the race due to suspension issues.

On lap 3, Bosak and Parry had a big accident when Bosak’s detached wheel hit Parry’s car, spinning him too. The race was yellow flagged and safety car was deployed. In the end of lap 5, the race restarted. However, in the next lap, Antionio Fuoco and Marvin Kirchhofer caused a yellow flag after a collision. On lap 7, the race restarted. Esteban Ocon lost the second place on lap 8 at Kemmel Straight when championship leader Luca Ghiotto overtook him. In the next lap, Ghiotto made a move on Palou and secured the lead. Ocon returned to the second when Palou lost pace after losing the lead. In the meantime, Jenzer driver Matheo Tuscher was making great progress and climbed to fifth. Celis Jr. took advantage of Palou’s lost pace and overtook him for third. In the last lap, Tuscher was the next to overtake Palou and get to fourth. Fontana was on sixth, followed by Janosz and Boschung, a duo who was fighting hard in the final laps. Detailed results can be seen here:
