Grosjean on the way to Haas team?
Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean is set to join Haas team for next season, says source close to the Frenchman.
Grosjean is currently the driver for Lotus but it looks like he already decided to move despite ongoing negotiations between Lotus and Renault about the takeover. So, Lotus will start searching for their second driver after Pastor Maldonado signed new two-year contract on Sunday.
It is assumed that former Toro Rosso man Jean-Eric Vergne and McLaren reserve Kevin Magnusen are the main favorites to fill the empty Lotus seat.
Grosjean’s decision to leave a well known and established team for a newcomer is unusual, but he probably hopes moving to Haas will give him a strong chance of taking Kimi Raikkonen’s seat at Ferrari in 2017.
Haas has strong connection with Ferrari, taking as much parts from Italian manufacturer as it is allowed, and also it is widely expected to take Ferrari reserve driver Esteban Gutierrez for 2016.
