Lopez at the top in FP2
Second Free Practice session of the World Touring Car Championship at Nurburgring brought more realistic results with Jose Maria Lopez at the top.
At dry track Argentinian driver and reigning champion set the fastest time 8:39.441 whch was slower than in the testings, so it seems “Pechito” still has something saved for qualifications today afternoon.
Chevrolet RML Cruze proved again that it can be very competitive as Hugo Valente had second best time, just 0.895 seconds behind Lopez, while Sebastien Loeb was third, 1.247 seconds slower than his teammate.
Citroen’s duo of Yvan Muller and Ma Qing Hua was fourth and fifth respectively, leaving LADA Sport’s drivers Rob Huff and Jaap Van Lagen on seventh and eighth position. Gabriele Tarquini was eighth, Mehdi Bennani finally had one good lap clinching ninth best result, while the 10th was Norbert Michelisz.
Qualifications are scheduled for 18:15 CET and it will be interesting to see not just who will tako pole position for the first race, but also who will finish ninth or tenth and clinch positions in the frst row at the start of the second race on Saturday.
