Officials of the Australian Grand Prix have confirmed that Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne will remain first round of Formula 1 season until at least 2020. Since the 1996, when the was moved to Melbourne, this track hosted campaign kick-off, except from 2006 to 2010 when it was in Bahrain.

Andrew Westacott, CEO of Australian Grand Prix Corporation has claimed that contract ensured Melbourne will remain first in the calender.

“The requirement that it be the first race is maintained. It works beautifully for Melbourne and Victoria state that it’s at the start of the season – and that’s not going to change”, told Westacott ruling out the possibility of the night race.

Formula 1 2015 season will start in Melbourne on March 15th.
