Red Bull to attack Le Mans with Adrian Newey
In last few weeks there is a interesting rumor circulating motorsport world and it involves a famous F1 constructor Adrian Newey and one of the world’s most active racing teams, Red Bull Racing. According to different sources, Red Bull is planing to enter the world endurance championships and 24 Hours of Le Mans with Newey as designer and constructor. Since 2006, Red Bull and Newey have a very successful partnership crowned with four Formula One championship titles. Beside that, Adrian Newey engineered cars has won six more F1 championships from 1992 until 1998 which makes him one of best constructors in the world.
Active in almost all relevant motorsport series, Red Bull did considered entering endurance championships and Le Mans and in 2011 contacted Lola Group for possible cooperation. However, that did not materialized but the idea survived and Red Bull thinks of Le Mans and endurance races as a new frontier. The Red Bull have a interesting history with France, since the original recipe for energy drink was banned from 1996 until 2008 and what is the better way to re-establish brand in French market than to win nations most famous race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans?
If the rumors are true, the Red Bull Racing and Adrian Newey could participate in Le Mans in few years time, possibly 2017 or 2018. That predicament is based on information coming from Renault, Red Bull’s engine partner in F1 which announced possible return to endurance racing. It obvious that Lola Group is out of the game, but Renault with engine technology can be valuable partner in the future. Since the world of endurance racing is thriving with the more and more interest from the racing teams, manufacturers and audience it safe to say that Red Bull Racing and Renault are interested. Adrian Newey with his vast experience and knowledge need a Le Mans win to complete his career since his creations did participate but never won the prestigious race. At the moment, Red Bull Racing has no comment on this rumors and it concentrated on Formula One and other racing series. The only problem for making Red Bull’s attack on Le Mans could be Formula One, since the situation in that series is complicated and participating in such a big championship is very demanding even for mayor race team as Red Bull Racing.
