Porsche Carrera Cup Germany Norisring - qualifying

The qualifying session of the fourth round of 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in Norisring was somewhat difficult since the track was damp. This means that the qualifying session in the morning was also problematic for some drivers on this short but technical track. Also, the different conditions resulted in a change in the drivers’ standings and led to very interesting qualifying results.

Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland 2015

The experienced Danish ace Nicki Thiim was the fastest today in wet Norisring with very good (given the conditions) time of 0.57.742. Thiim who is one of most experienced and successful Carrera Cup and Supercup drivers wasn’t on top of his game last year but this pole position (and his great driving in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans) could mean that he is back in form.

Right behind him in the second spot was Italian driver Matteo Cairoli who clocked in a similar time. Christian Engelahart, Phillip Eng and Connor de Phillipi were third, fourth and fifth respectively with close times.

This meant that the first race (today) and the second (tomorrow) will be interesting since the first row on the grid is divided between the experienced Thiim and the ambitious Cairoli with the rest of the drivers behind.

Let’s hope for better conditions tomorrow and great racing. For full results, click HERE:
