Dusan Borkovic announced last week that he is leaving the World Touring Car Championship for the European Touring Car Championship. He also added he will be driving the new Seat Leon at Hungaroring on the first weekend in May.

But, soon after announcement of the Serbian driver, his WTCC squad Proteam Racing reacted with surprise and in a statement pointed out that Borkovic would breach the contract if he did not race with them in Hungary.

“The contract with the driver Dusan Borkovic is currently in place and is binding just like any contract. Both parties, as in any legal system, are not allowed to resolve the contract unilaterally. Therefore Borkovic must participate with Proteam Racing’s car in the next FIA World Touring Car Championship race scheduled for May 1st – 3rd at the Hungaroring circuit in Budapest,” said a statement from the team’s lawyer Marco Baroncini.

It is still unclear how Borkovic and his team will do next but it seems that the best solution for the both parties will be found till the race as both sides don’t have any interest to go into the legal process which could affect them badly.
