Rosberg wins pole position in Abu Dhabi

Nico Rosberg won pole position for the last race of the 2015 Formula 1 season. At Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, German won first starting position for seventh time this season and sixth in a row.


Mercedes supremacy was confirmed in first qualifying round, as Hamilton and Rosberg were much faster than the rest of the grid, and that wasn’t surprise. But, huge surprise was eliminination of former champion Sebastian Vettel. Because of the team’s bad calculation, Ferrari driver failed to qualify for Q2, together with another former champion Fernando Alonso. Marcus Ericsson, Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi were remaining three drivers out of next round.




Romain Grosjean in his last appereance for Lotus was the first one who is eliminated from Q3 after suffering problems with his car. Felipe Nasr, Pastor Maldonado, Jenson Button and Max Verstappen also were eliminated, while Hamilton again had best result – 1:40.758, what was 0.221s better than Rosberg’s lap time.




In the last qualifying round of the season, Rosberg managed to beat his teammate and win pole position. He was 0.377s faster than Hamilton, while Kimi Raikkonen was third, 0.814s behind, leaving Sergio Perez on fourth as the last driver within a second.
