Tarquini optimistic about Honda's development
Honda Racing’s Gabriele Tarquini expect good season for his team in the WTCC and believes that Honda can compete for the title. The Japanese manufacturer has five Honda Civics running in this season’s WTCC series, two Castrol-liveried driven by Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro, as well as Zengo Motorsport’s Norbert Michelisz, Proteam Racing with Dusan Borkovic and Nika International’s Rickard Rydell.
This season will be third for Tarquini in Honda, so he knows well what could be expected. He is full of confidence and expects challenging season.
“I am ready after completing more testing than last winter, and I am more confident than ever that we can deliver results with the Honda Civic. This is a world championship with the best drivers, best teams and the most competitive cars so results do not come easy. But I feel we are ready to challenge hard and Argentina will see the reality of our work”, said the 2009 WTCC champion.
Honda officials are also positive before the season kick-off. Daisuke Horiuchi, head of its WTCC operations, underlined technical modifications:
“Evolutions to the engine specification including higher compression ratio, advanced fuel and ignition mapping and improved exhaust flow have increased power and drivability. Changes to the chassis include a new power steering system and altered shock absorber ratings. Test sessions in Spain and France have confirmed the performance improvements” .
