TCR International Series unveils 2016 calendar

TCR International Series unveils the calendar for 2016 season. Maiden season of new global touring car championship had 11 events, in 2016 number will be expand to twelve. Some new tracks are on the list.

 

The series is aiming to support three Formula 1 events once again. “We are currently negotiating with the Formula One Management, and our wish is to be part of the Bahrain, Singapore and Malaysia Grands Prix,” promoter Marcello Lotti explained.

 

Season will kick off during Formula One weekend on April 3 in Bahrain, which is a new venue on the list. After that six races will take place in Europe: at Estoril (24 April, with the GT Open and TCR Portugal), Spa (8 May, with the World Endurance Championship), Monza (22 May, with TCR Italy), Salzburgring (5 June), Oschersleben (19 June, with TCR Germany) and Sochi (3 July). New tracks on the list are Spa and Oschersleben.

 

In the second part of the season Series will move to the Far East. Races at Singapore and Sepang are scheduled during F1 weekends, race in China will took place together with the China Touring Car Championship, penultimate round is scheduled for Thailand and the Finale will be again at Macau Guia Circuit on November 20.
