Tony Kanaan, one of the most iconic names in the American open-wheel racing in the last twenty years, will join another racing legend in the 2018 IndyCar Series season. After four seasons with Chip Ganassi Racing, the 2004 IndyCar champion joins AJ Foyt to drive for his AJ Foyt Racing.

“It’s two legends together. Even before I ever considered driving for him, he was saying nice things about me, like I would be good in the old times and that I reminded him of himself. Coming from a guy like that, it’s big,” Kanaan said.

Kanaan is active in the North American premier open-wheel racing league since 1998, driving previously for Tasman Motorsports, Forsythe Racing, Mo Nunn Racing, Andretti Autosport, KV Racing Technology and Chip Ganassi Racing. He was a champion in 2004 with Andretti Green Racing’s Honda and the 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner with KV Racing Technology’s Chevrolet.

The new multiyear contract between Kanaan and Foyt includes longtime sponsor ABC Supply Co. and engineer Eric Cowdin, who was with Kanaan in all of his greatest moments. Kanaan will drive the #14 Chevrolet next season.
