World RX: Andrew Jordan will replace Mattias Ekstrom in Italy
Former British Touring Car Champion Andrew Jordan will have a one more guest appearance in World Rallycross Championship. After competing at Lydden Hill in May with Hansen’s Peugeot 208 WRX Supercar he will participate with a different car in the 12th round of World RX at the Italian circuit Franciacorta (16-18 October). This time, Jordan will drive an Audi S1 RX quattro of EKS RX team as a replacement for team’s boss Mattias Ekstrom, who will be chasing the championship title at DTM season finale during that time.
Jordan has a wealth of experience in rallycross. In a fact he started his racing career in a 50 horsepower MINI in the British Junior Rallycross Championship back in 2004. Last year he finished on the podium when he drove an Olsbergs MSE prepared Ford Fiesta. This year at Lydden Hill he reached the Semifinals, so a good result can be expected at Franciacorta too.
“Getting the opportunity to drive in such a great team, with these amazing partners on board is something I’m really proud of and hopefully I can do them all justice. The power of a Supercar blows my mind. I’ll try to fill Mattias’ seat, but he raised the bar very much this year. I’ve never been to the Italian round before but I’ll do my homework. The aim is to make it through to the final and then, everything can happen,” said Jordan.
Mattias Ekstrom concluded: “Andrew has a lot of experience in rallycross and has showed some impressive performances in the past. He is also very experienced from circuit racing in the BTCC, and race drivers can give the team good ideas to move forward. I’m very excited to get Andrew’s feedback about our Audi S1 EKS RX quattro. I hope he can manage a clean weekend, has a lot of fun and gets a fair result at Franciacorta.”
