World RX - Istanbul: Third victory for Timmy Hansen

Timmy Hansen scored third victory of the season at Turkish round of World Rallycross Championship at Intercity Park Istanbul. It was the 5th win for Team Peugeot-Hansen in eleven events and they extended the lead in the teams’ championship standings. Timmy Hansen remained second in the championship chase, but decreased the gap between himself and Petter Solberg to just 19 points.

Hansen took the victory in an exciting final race against Andreas Bakkerud in Ford Fiesta, crossing the finish line just 0.277s before the Norwegian. Johan Kristoffersson in Volkswagen Sweden’s Polo RX finished third. Other finalists were Mattias Ekstrom (EKS Audi S1), Davy Jeanney (Team Peugeot Hansen) and Anton Marklund (EKS RX Audi S1). Championship leader Petter Solberg didn’t get to the final. With the broken driveshaft on his Citroen DS3 Supercar he was last in his Semifinal group.

21 drivers competed at Istanbul with Supercars and 10 more in RX Lites class. Winner of RX Lites finale is Thomas Bryntesson, in front of Kevin Hansen. Tom Onslow-Cole, in his first ever rallycross competition, scored third place.

Next World RX event is scheduled for two weeks at Italy. More than 40 Supercars are expected at Franciacorta Circuit.
