World RX stars dominated at Silverstone's BRX season-opener
Three World RX stars dominated in the season-opening round of the British Rallycross Championship at Silverstone Circuit. Sebastien Loeb (Team Peugeot Total) won the event ahead of his teammate Timmy Hansen and Andreas Bakkerud (EKS Audi Sport).
The guest appearance of the World RX regulars in the British RX event was a preparation for the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship that will be held at Silverstone in May for the first time. A brand new Silverstone’s rallycross circuit will replace iconic Lydden Hill on the World RX calendar.
Loeb, Bakkerud and Hansen were not eligible to score points so the victory in the BRX season-opener went to five-time British RX champion Julian Godfrey in a Mitsubishi Mirage Supercar.
“For me, it was the first time in the rallycross car this season. It was a first test and first victory, so it was a great start. I had a successful day, it’s never easy to win even if it’s a national championship. We didn’t really have big ambitions, it was more to get used to the car, to get used to the track and for the team to learn rallycross. The conditions were really tricky in the morning but better in the afternoon so we had the chance to try different setups, it was a good weekend,” said Loeb.
