Reigning WTCC champion Jose Maria Lopez has said that he is open to driving in FIA Formule E following DS Automobiles tying up with the existing Formula E team Virgin Racing.

;

DS Automobiles, a subsidiary of the Citroen team, announced in June that it would be joining forces with Richard Branson’s Virgin Racing for the next Formula E season. Hiring an Argentinian driver, who is on the way to defend his WTCC title, is one of the options for the new team, but there is still long way to go before any kind of agreement.

“Wherever there is competitionbe it four wheels, electric or something else, I am interested. My desire is to continue with the team, but it will depend on them. Now I am not thinking about that. WTCC is still my priority, but I know that I love Le Mans and  would like to race there one day,” said Lopez.

Maybe the most important factor for Lopez’s future career could be Citroen’s decision to withdraw from WTCC or WRC which is planned after 2016 season and it will be announced before the end of this year.

We will have to wait and see for more.
