WTCC: Huff heads Honda's 1-2-3 in Marrakech
Hondas were on the top three places at the start of the race at very tight track of reconstructed Circuit Moulay El Hassan. Conditions were pretty hard because of the heavy rain, but Jose Maria Lopez in Citroen did good job to overtake Monteiro for third position.
No one was ready to take a bigger risk at slippery track, so we couldn’t expect too much excitement. In lap 5, Lopez made a mistake, so Monteiro gained back third place. And that was all at the top of the grid as the standings remained same until the end. Huff scored second win this year while Honda drivers occupied podium for the first time.
Citroen drivers Lopez and Yvan Muller finished on fourth and fifth place respectively while Gabriele Tarquini in Lada Vesta finished sixth. Hugo Valente, Mehdi Bennani, James Thompson and Tom Chilton scored remaining points in the race 2 in Marrakech.
Next round of the World Touring Cars Championship will go on 26-28 May at Nurburgring.
