WTCC: Pechito Lopez on pole in Japan, Citroen wins MAC3
The reigning champion and the 2016 championship leader Jose Maria Lopez won the pole position for the WTCC race of Japan at Twin Ring Motegi circuit.
The Citroen driver for the 8th time this season will start from pole in the main race. In the first starting row, he will be accompanied with his teammate Yvan Muller while another Citroen driver Mehdi Bennani and Tiago Monteiro in Honda will start from the second row. Another tow Honda drivers, Rob Huff and Norbert Michelisz, will start from the front row in the opening race on Sunday.
Citroen won MAC3 after confident drive from Lopez, Muller and Tom Chilton. Honda narrowly beat Lada in the battle for the second place.
